San Jose, California, Sep 8, 2014    BCL Technologies announces the award of an NSF SBIR Phase II award titled “Automatic Extraction of Financial Data from Text (AEFDT)”. The AEFDT forms the basis for BCL’s Financial Text Extraction System (FTES) that transforms virtually any Unstructured Financial Text into Structured Financial Data that can be accessed like a Financial Database.

By unlocking Financial Text, BCL’s FTES allows Algorithmic Traders access to virtually any Financial Data in any Financial Text worldwide so that they can trade faster and more accurately than possible before. Financial Analysts can gain access to Financial Data in company reports, press releases and news articles. Auditors can transparently access financial data on virtually any company worldwide.

“By backing scientific innovation that has large economic impact, the NSF SBIR allows BCL to develop technology far ahead of its competition,” said Hassan Alam, BCL’s CEO. “The FTES promises to disrupt the Financial Data market by allowing computer programs to understand and act on any Financial Information, whatever its format.”

BCL Technologies is a Silicon Valley-based software company that applies machine learning and artificial intelligence to extract meaning from all formats of documents including PDF, Word and Excel. For more information, please contact Bob Krumwiede at bobk@bcltechnologies.com or 408-557-0261.
